Maria Yoho
Floral Design Consultant
JP Parker Co. Florist
Franklin, IN
“How can I put into words what floral design means to me? I find such satisfaction in the fact that I can create something with my hands that can bring so much pleasure to so many different people for so many different occasions – weddings, graduations, birthdays, funeral. It gives me a sense of fulfillment when I can express what the client wants to say through flowers.”
When Maria Yoho took a ten-month basic floral design course at a local college in St. Petersburg, Florida, she didn’t dream that she would do so well, she would be awarded a scholarship to study in Phoenix, Arizona with one of the premier floral designers in the world – Phil Rulloda. Yet, that is just what happened.
From that auspicious start to her career, Maria has had the opportunity to compose unique floral designs for every occasion. After completing her studies in 1995, Maria returned to Florida where she not only worked as a floral designer, she began to learn the business, including training, supervision, purchasing, customer service and delivery routing.
Implementing the techniques she learned in her training, Maria has designed extraordinary compositions that reflect styles ranging from tropical and exotic to classic and traditional. She has designed for every type of occasion – including special events, beach weddings and traditional weddings, where she has supervised everything from the initial consultation and purchasing to design, setup and execution.
About three years ago, Maria and her family moved to Indianapolis. Since then, she has worked for a florist on the southside of town and also served as a special consultant for a large holiday decorating project.
Maria joined JP Parker in the spring of this year. “I found the website and thought the arrangements were wonderful – far above any others I have seen in Indianapolis. So, I came in to see the shop. When I walked in, the atmosphere was very friendly and inviting, and the flowers were all out on display. It really represented a top-quality florist, and that is what I was looking for. I’m proud to be part of the JP Parker team.”
