“We usually work with people during an emotional time in their lives - whether it is a happy celebration like a wedding, birthday or anniversary or at a more somber time, such as a funeral or memorial service. We keep that emotional element in mind when we are dealing with our customers, doing whatever we can to make each event more memorable.”
Nancy’s brings a depth of experience in the areas of customer service and administration to JP Parker Flowers. Nancy started her career as an elementary teacher. After raising her family, she re-entered the workplace as an education ministry coordinator for a local church and later also served as missions coordinator.
Though this may seem far afield from the floral industry, Nancy has found, since coming to JP Parker a few years ago, that the skills she possesses and the experience she has gained in both customer relations and business administration have served the company well. “I was surprised to see how many of my skills were transferable to the floral industry. After all, knowing how to take care of a customer well is basically the same in any industry.”
Nancy has taken the opportunity to learn as much as possible about the floral industry. She attended classes at IUPUI on floral design, taught by Pam Parker. In January 2007, Nancy became a partner in the business. She is looking forward to increasing her involvement in both floral shops, both in the administrative and marketing areas.
JP Parker is a great fit for Nancy. She has been around crops and plants all her life, having grown up on a farm in Shelby County, where her parents grew soy, corn and wheat. And Nancy is a great asset for JP Parker; after all, her association with JP Parker has already bloomed into a beautiful partnership.
