The love of flowers really is in Pam Parker's blood. Pam remembers walking with her grandfather when she was a little girl on their family farm in Shelby County. Not only can she remember him talking about the huge fields of corn and soy they were growing, she also remembers him showing off the flower gardens he kept around the house. From the time she was a little girl, she was hooked on flowers.
Pam left the farm and moved to Minnesota in 1970 to attend the University of Minnesota. She went right into the flower business, working for a large, multi-location florist. Eventually, she worked her way up to general manager and ran the company's many floral shops.
In 1985, she moved back to Indianapolis. At that time, Union Station was being renovated, and Pam began attending meetings about the grand opening. Even before JP Parker Co. Florist was fully established, she landed the project of decorating all the hallways and commons areas of Union Station incredibly, her first job in the Indianapolis area!
Since then, she has continued to grow the business, which now has two locations serving the metropolitan Indianapolis area. At her family farm, Pam grows more than 20,000 peony stems and 300,000 sunflowers annually, which are sold to florists throughout the Midwest. In addition to her floral consultation for commercial, residential and special event clients, Pam also teaches floral design at IUPUI and Franklin College.
Pam has consulted for and demonstrated at the Indiana Flower and Patio Show for 20 years. For the past six years, she has been a judge at The Cincinnati Flower Show, the only American show sanctioned by The Royal Horticulture Society.
Pam is married, has one son Scott and a beautiful granddaughter Lila, who, Pam says, is the only person who can switch her focus away from flowers!
Pam's love of flowers translates into a passion for customized service for her clients.
"I'm passionate about what I do and equally passionate about the service we offer. Our goal is to enrich the lives of our clients through the floral arrangements we design for them. I believe flowers can make a huge difference in your day, in your attitude, in your life."
